Information System for Greenhouse Gases in Slovakia
Emissions Slovensky English

Agriculture sector covers wide set of biological and technical processes of the country that affect balance of GHG emissions. This sector deals with basic greenhouse gases N2O and CH4. Agriculture produces about 30% of total methane and more than 90% of total nitrous oxide emissions in Slovakia. Emissions of the methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) are related to specific agricultural activities as intensive cultivation of agricultural products (soil nitrification, manure management, soil cultivation methods, vegetal composition and similar emissions of N2O) and livestock breeding (emissions of CH4). The basic sources of data used for evaluations of emissions are published in Slovak Statistical yearbook (1990-2005) and Green Report (1998-2005). Emissions from burning of field residuals were not defined because these forms of soil cultivation are prohibited by law in SR.
